10 Federal Storage New Builds & Renovations

These projects involved the new builds or renovations of climate-controlled self-storage warehouses. The new one-story PEMB structures involved site work such as concrete, storm drains, and fire tanks. In Arlington, a 50,000 sf vacant warehouse was remodeled into a new self-storage facility.

U-Haul Moving & Storage of Orange Park

Rycon was the design-builder on this new 880-locker three-story climate-controlled facility featuring a concrete tilt-up first floor with steel and cold-formed framing, plus a separate PEMB U-Box. Work included site improvements, elevators, masonry, EIFS/stucco, finishes, and MEP systems.

U-Haul Moving & Storage of Lake Wylie

This new three-story storage facility features 741 lockers and a first-floor concrete tilt-wall structure with steel framing. The climate-controlled building includes full MEP systems and finishes. Site work involved grading, utilities, underground detention, landscaping, fencing, and lot.

U-Haul U-Box Warehouse Rome

Rycon was the design-builder for this ground-up 10,000 sf warehouse used to store portable containers. The structure is a PEMB with overhead doors, storefront, exterior finishes, and MEPs. Work included site development, landscaping, hardscapes, and loading dock equipment.

Extra Space Storage Jacksonville

This new single-story, climate-controlled storage building was built on an active Extra Space site with cast-in-place foundations, metal framing, and metal panel roof. It holds 216 lockers, some with drive-up access. Site work included demo, grading, utilities, irrigation, and landscaping.

Storage King USA Winter Haven

This new single-story 20,500 sf PEMB is composed of 4” slab on grade, structural cold-formed framing, glass storefront, EIFS, and standing seam metal roof. The climate-controlled structure holds 130 lockers. Work included MEP systems, finishes, landscaping, hardscaping, and grading/earthwork.

Public Storage Riverview

This new three-story building was constructed with load-bearing light gauge framing and clad in EIFS and metal panel exterior. The climate-controlled facility houses 791 lockers. The project included off-site roadwork, involving the milling and expansion of a nearby road section.

Landings Vero Self Storage

This structural delegated design project features a new three-story storage facility built with structural steel and cold-formed load-bearing walls. The structure holds 283 climate-controlled units. Site work included concrete sidewalks, concrete curb and gutter, bollards, and paving.
